At Beyond Surviving, the survivor’s healing journey is nurtured through our holistic approach. We are not a crisis centre; instead, we are a vital bridge and survivor-led hub, prioritising social connection, advocacy, long-term healing support, and empowerment. Our purpose is to aid those affected by DSGBV in not just surviving, but thriving on the healing journey.

Connection

Connecting with fellow survivors of similar traumas is incredibly healing. The solidarity of shared experiences provides validation and hope, opening the door to new perspectives and support. Such connections foster empowerment, helping survivors find strength as they navigate the healing journey.

Advocacy

When survivors advocate for themselves and others, it nurtures their sense of agency and empowerment. Advocacy builds relationships with fellow survivors and those also committed to meaningful change. Having your voice heard and making a difference is both rewarding and healing.

Support

Healing is a complex, non-linear process, making it crucial for survivors to be supported diversely at every stage of their journey. Survivors require a clearly defined pathway to rebuilding their lives after trauma, along with a supportive space to unite and navigate this challenging path to healing together.

Empowerment

Empowerment acts as a catalyst for healing, encouraging survivors to reclaim their agency and stand tall. It inspires survivors to embrace all aspects of themselves, including the scars left behind by trauma. Ultimately, empowerment leads to liberation and self-discovery, unveiling one’s true identity and value.
